Thank you for making our 2026 Halloween Costume Giveaway a success

Hundreds of children visited Interfaith Social Services on October 17 to pick out their Halloween costumes at our annual costume giveaway. We invited the children and families served by our food pantry to browse a costume shop full of brand-new costumes, masks, and accessories, all donated by generous community members.

For local families having trouble make ends meet, “extras” such as Halloween costumes may not be in the budget. We run several seasonal initiatives, including the Halloween costume drive, and our upcoming Help for the Holidays gift program, to help ease these costs for South Shore families in need. Additionally, we distribute children’s books, when available, to families visiting the food pantry. Interfaith gave out nearly 16,000 gently used children’s books last year.

Generous individuals and businesses donated hundreds of new Halloween costumes to the 2026 Halloween Costume Drive. Interfaith would like to thank the Have a Sammi Kinda Day Fund for donating more than 200 new costumes. Early Law Group, Hanover Club, Inly School Scituate, Merge @ Mass General Brigham, Milton Academy, and Stop & Shop Corporate Office, also ran costume drives in their communities. Last but not least, we are so grateful to Stop & Shop who donated 350 sugar pumpkins for children to take home.

Dozens of volunteers helped sort incoming donations, prepare for the event, and assisted clients during the costume distribution, including corporate volunteer groups from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Elevance Health, Radius Financial, State Street, and Stop & Shop.

Thank you to our Halloween Costume distribution “dream team” of volunteers and staff who gave us hours of their time assisting the children we serve in finding the perfect costume.

Thank you Gary Higgins Photography for capturing all of the moments from the event.

One of the children knocking on your door this evening might just be wearing a costume that you donated.

Happy haunting!
